From a young age I was always building Lego and Airfix models and just loved the idea of putting something together to create something new and exciting. Much of my work is shaped by a love for thinking (designing) and making (building).

It is essential to my work that materials, detail and construction are an integral and informative part of the design process. Details and materials, are what realise the architecture.

Over the years in practice I have come to understand what contractors need to build efficiently and what design factors are crucial to the success of a project. Understanding how to balance these in order to allow contractors to do what they do and still to deliver a great project has been my biggest lesson.
